This first volume of a trilogy starts like any others. A young man with power entangled in a political power struggle among mages. Bird familiars and magical powers are linked in this magical system. I liked this book well enough and look forward to the conclusion.

This volume starts several years after the first volume. The technology based world of Lon-Ser and Tobyn-Ser, a magical power based world coexists. But someone in Lon-Ser was planning an invasion... Entertaining work of fantasy. At least above the mediocre.

Although not so interesting or exiting compared to the first volume, it is still fun enough to read.
